There are many ways to volunteer to help new UTA international students with The Big Howdy
Local volunteers are the heartbeat of the Big Howdy at UTA — whether it’s picking up international students from the DFW/Love Field Airport, giving away/moving used items, serving food at the Big Howdy welcome party, or any other numerous opportunities to serve.
God has given all of us unique gifts and talents and it is with those gifts that we have the opportunity to follow Christ’s example to serve one another and help build His Kingdom.
If you are a follower of Christ, or would like to serve our new international students from different countries, we would love for you to join one of our volunteer opportunities!

YOU MAY HELP WITH...
Airport Pickup
A great way to serve is to meet them when they first come into the country! Imagine coming to a country that you are unfamiliar with, where you have no friends or family.
You are the first point of contact for them to Texas, and we want them to feel welcome. Pick them up from Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) or Love Field Airport and bring them to their apartment at UTA.
Used Item Giveaway (Fall)
This is an opportunity for students to get used furniture and household items. Donate your gently used kitchen items and furniture to the Used Item Giveaway.
We also need people to help at the giveaway load, organize and deliver their items to their apartments.
Big Howdy Welcome Party
A fun party for international students to start off the semester and a great opportunity to get to know the students!
We have lots of needs at the party including making and serving food, as well as just hanging out with the students and dancing with them!
Tour of Arlington/FT. Worth (Fall)
Volunteer to take students on a tour of the Ft.Worth/Arlington area to help them find the things they need to live here.
This involves taking students with you to the Water Gardens and the Stockyards in Fort Worth and then ending with a picnic lunch.
Friendship Partner Program
Sign up as a volunteer to be a friendship partner at the beginning of every semester. Develop a relationship with an international student and share your American culture with them.
This is an incredible chance to make a difference globally from right where you are! All you need is a willingness to love and serve students who have been sent to us from around the world.
