WHO WE ARE
The Big Howdy is a group of campus organizations, local churches and community volunteers who are here to help you as you transition to living in Arlington, Texas. All services are available at the beginning of the fall semester. Some are suspended pending the availability of volunteers in the spring semester.
OUR PROGRAMS
Airport Pickup
If you need a ride from the DFW International Airport or Dallas Love Field Airports to UT Arlington and you are an International Student at UTA, let us know your flight information, and we can try to arrange to have someone pick you up.
Used Item Giveaway
International Students can get free used items for use in your apartment or dorm room. There are kitchen items (pots, pans, etc.), dining items (plates, cups, etc.), small appliances (including microwaves), electronics and other decorative items. You can also get FURNITURE including couches, mattresses, desk chairs, desks, bookshelves, etc.
Big Howdy Party
You are invited to the BIG HOWDY PARTY to welcome all international student to UTA! Meet new Friends, American and International Music and dancing for you to enjoy Music from all over the World Meet the people who helped you out at the other Howdy events Lots of Fun before classes start getting crazy!
Tours of Dallas/Ft.Worth
The Big Howdy team provides tours of the Arlington/DFW area specifically geared towards the needs of new international students. This tour takes new students to visit key places in the area. They also get to meet area volunteer and UTA student “guides” that can help them throughout their time in Arlington. Only a limited number of spots!!
